Final project: Curative Retreat

I have discovered a lot from this final project during the first crit to final panels judgement. It was a great experience to understand the term of designing a curative retreat space. My theme of the curative retreat is Japanese spa centre which is utilised some natural materials as wood, stone and others. Transforming my concept to the space which is bringing the outer nature into the interiors. I gave created the water feature bridge in my spaces to enhance the space and bring out japanese ambiences. For the final panel judgements, the lectures and external moderator have been comments my presentation boards that I have make some minor mistakes in my boards so I have corrected in resubmission boards. I gained the knowledge from the external moderator in the conversation that the told me the better way in reality of designing curative retreat spa.

Project 2b: Site analysis

This is a class project which are divided in three big group. There are technical drawing group, data and swot studies group and model making group. Personally under model making group to produce the site model. I took part of first floor walls, staircase and floor model making. It was a good experience to produce the site model and understanding the construction and some opening systems.

Project 2a : Promotional Kiosk Individual task

In the project 2, we are required to make a promo booth design, brand values and corporate identity. The design of the promo booth is within the space area of 1500mm X 1500mm ( single user space). Other than promo booth, our group have to rebrand the corporate identity namely Banyan Tree, produce some CIS products and others. Based on the banyan tree's logo, it was totally greenish of logo so we have decided apply the four different colour ti represent the individual country therapy. For example, the red in the logo represent Japanese, gold represent chinese, green represent the origin of the brand, blue represents Balinese, brown represents Thailand. Moreover, we have chosen the CIS products as envelop, booklets, name card, CD and holders, plastic bags, and others. In models, we selected the promotional kiosk as collapsible booth could extend and collapsible to save space.

Project 1: Research finding: Curative Service


We are required to form a group for the project research findings in the beginning. Our group members are Olivia, Celine, Min wei and myself which are given the therapeutics recuperation namely Native. In native, we combined Chinese, Thailand, Japanese and Balinese in our native therapy research. We have separated our part as I was focusing more on Japanese native therapy. Each person chosen one type of therapy for the research findings. In Japanese, there are three type of traditional massage which are Shiatsu, Reiki and hot stone massage to help them for relaxing and healing. We have studied the method of massage and the different environment based on the individual country therapy. We collected all the information and transformed it to the video presentation.

FINAL PROGRESSION

The location of the interior environment are located in Foreston, Puchong. It's a semi-detached sample house. The concept of the house is really similar with the voila house. The lifestyle is designed to be relaxed and a laid back with a back-to-nature concept. First, I have proposed the user as 40 age above man but I realised there are not much content to show from the images in my trial test. So, I have decided to change my model to couple. I have invited a new married couples in the age of 29 and 33 as my target users.

Interiors ambience with user

There are same concepts with Voila house that I have been proposed at the first time. Due to the policy of private and confidential, I didn't successfully get to access for photo shooting. So I chose SP Setia's sample house for photo shooting. It is also a modern contemporary design that brings out the serene emotion. Firstly, The living and dining area with sliding doors and windows which connected the outside area to inside area. The entire interior gave the privacy , security and a natural setting of accessor to user. The interior design offers harmony environment that influences the attitude of user. A good interior is very important because it would effect the user mood. The five photos have shown the calm and enjoy emotion in the nice ambience environment.
