Final Assignment

Memorablia is a concept retail space especially design for music appreciation. A space that offered a unique style of design to enhance and introduce the selected music genre with an unusual experience to engage the customer in a way they are not likely to forget. My interior style is UNDERGROUND with reggae as the music genre. We are required to design minimum 3 display unit and 6 A2 presentation board with model during the final review.

The product must related to the music genre so I chosen bass guitar as my main product. Bass guitar is the most popular instrument in the reggae genre. In my retail shop, you could find the raw, rustiness and rough feeling base on the style itself. Graffiti strongly applied in the spaces in order to create and related with underground style.

Assignment 2

We are required to design an iconic compact listening booth that suits the mood, music essence, and characteristic that best express the sound. The function is to create an exciting environment to give better impression and attracts viewers to experience the space through visual in order to maximize their audio sensory. The considerations will be looking at compact space design which would cater all the intended activity comfortably within the limited space and consideration of behaviour and attitude while listening to music which includes posture, movement, body language and gesture. The listening booth must be related with the music genre as REGGAE. 

The requirement of dimension : 1500x1500x2400 ( the size could be extend to 500mm for the lenth and width)

Rhythm Wall

Assignment 1.2

In this task, we are required to create a rhythm wall in order to visualize the music to the movement. The keywords of reggae are relax, chill, release and kind of beach feeling.My wall was following the size that has fixed which is 2400mm x 2400mm x 300mm. So, I have decided to create the wavy movement with the material of felt paper. Felt paper created smooth surface as related to reggae with the smooth beat that never ever change the 4/4 times to another time beat. The waves represents feeling of reggae and bring out the entire movement. I was focusing on the newer style of reggae contains the remix as Hip Hop, EDM, Rocks and others. The difference thickness of felt paper represents the remix of reggae fusion while all the wavy intersected together with different type of thickness would be symbolize the reggae music has sink in to the people mind and heart. Moreover, the swirl express the evolution from old to newer style reggae. The tagline 'FALL IN FLOW' means follow the wavy lines that you would enjoy to the activity that fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus. The function of my rhythm wall could be displayed little things.

Assignment 1.1

After a long holiday, we are started to the first class of interior design project 1 in semester 2. Ms. Norji and Ms. Sha told us the whole project is related to the genre music and once you got the title would be stick with it so we had lucky draw to be divided the group in fate. I got a title about REGGAE genre music which are same group with Alex Teh, Pei San, Aizat and Sheela Wong. Unfortunately, Sheela was transferred to another university after a few days.

We have totally no idea about reggae genre music and don't even understand the word of reggae. I felt very shame about myself that knowledge not wide enough. Then, we did some research together regarding to reggae genre music and we got an information about Bob Marley was the creator of reggae music. There have transition from earlier to urban reggae and others. We must visualize all the reggae music information, essence, mood, characteristic into infographic with 3D feeling.

In the first tutorial class, we had some ideas to hang the information on the board and spin it. But it was refused by Ms.Sha. She said that wasn't related to our project and didn't have any meaning towards it.

However, we were decided to using a plywood to make our infographic presentation board. Red, yellow and green are theme colour of reggae whenever you seen anything related to reggae that were using this colours. We used archylic to paint it and applied Bob Marley's face with the material of ropes to sticks to electric wires appeared the technique of sillhouette. It was represent the transition of earlier to urban reggae. Mostly the reggae related to the loves, peace and politic so we did a peace sign with weed on the board to visualize all in it.

In the newer style of reggae fusion, it was mixture in other genre type of music or dancehall such as jazz, hip hop, pop and others.

Reflection: In this particular assignment, I have perceive the significance of reggae to transform it to visualize. Reggae is type of music for relaxing yourself and kind the beach side feeling for myself. I really appreciate my teammate could be cooperated together to produced a pretty nice work in order to get the best of best in our presentation. Everyone have put in all the effort in single particular work.

In this assignment, our lecturer has required to form a group within four persons. At first, we were confusing how to start make the modelling cause we don't even understand the skill of it. Ms Feed has showed us the demo so we understood everything built based on the layout plan. The wall used softboard of model making that was match with the thickness of wall in this model. Everyone of us cooperated to complete single of the task  and faced a lot of problem but we had solve it by team spirit.

From this exercise, I knew how to differentiate the vanishing point with the one and two point perspective. Different of the lines as horizontal line, ceiling line, ground line, vanishing point etc having the different point of view but they always connected to each others. Those lines very important to create the perspective view.
