Tiny Details

7th April 2015

This assignment required us to used the tonal values as hatching method to complete leaf drawing. After the stationery assignment, I understand the skills of controlling the hatching method so I applied on my leaf drawing. I used the hatching method to form the leaf to stand out like a 3d drawing.

Expression in Sketching

7th April 2015

Assignment 1.1b:

In this assignment, we are required to drew the 6 randomly items and produced the four tonal values which are hatching, cross-hatching, scribbling and stippling in the stationery drawing. At first, I not really understand how to control the tonal values based on the objects and shadows. It has been taken my long time to discover it out. However, I passed up my assignment to Ms Norji and received it after a week. She told me that the tonal values based on the objects doesn't determine so accurately and I just got below the passing mark. (T.T)  I need to redo this assignment. Nevertheless, I got to understand using suitable tonal values on the object, its produced a different effects. I quite satisfied with the redoing work compared to the previous work. I got the comment from Ms Norji said that my work improved. So yeah. I hope get to understand and do well next time!

Tonal Values and Detailing

31.03.2015 ( Tuesday)
Week 2
Design Communication

In the first class, Ms Norji has given us the briefing about the design communication. How the module will goes on and everything that make clear after the briefing. However, we started our short lecture about introduction to basic form. What is form? Form is either shape or figure internal structure, external outline, include a sense of three dimensional mass or volume. We were following the slides one by one to complete the exercise and understand the way to build form. I understood how was the cube to make a new form inside it shape. So, Ms Norji gave the visual diary task to draw the object that listed in the slides.

The exercise:

Nevertheless, we have continued to the tonal values exercise. I feel so ashamed by myself about not listening before the four type of basic techniques tonal shading which is hatching, cross-hatching, scribbling and stippling. First, hatching is the repetition of parallel lines to create broad areas of tones. Next, cross-hatching would be adds another series of lines that cross the first set and creating even denser areas of tone. Then, scribbling involves drawing of random and multi-directional lines. Fourth, stippling is shading technique of very fine dots. From this exercise, I got the inspiration to draw the object with this four techniques and make my drawing become better than last time.
